Item - Fluid - Energy Transfer

For those who have played a modpack with a lot or few tech mods know my pain of early power and start... Cables and wires just fill your base... When it comes to machines the 2nd most important thing to know is: Cables - Wires - Pipes: Names - Uses: A cable is used for transfering items while a wire for power and last a pipe (or fluiduct) for liquids. But, let's say you have reached a certain level of resource hoarding and you are pretty stacked, you can immidiately move to wireless items which are wayy better because: 1) Wireless power takes less time to be transmitted as it negates the use for cables. 2) With mods like Ender Storage you can move items directly where they are required for crafting instead of doing this: Farm to Main storage to automation... 3) You won't have a messy under floor filled up to the brink with tons and tons of cables! 4) Your base can be pretty again! 5) You can effectively maximize your automation capabilities without causing too much lag that m

Compact Placing

When it's about automation and machines you can literally automate everything! From ore doubling to, basic crafting to even as advanced as quadripling ores! But it all comes to down to placing and why it is important... Having multiple machines located far away from: - Your generator - Other machines - Inventories Can be a problem.... Especially in chain automation meaning: Where many machines are gathered and used to complete a certain task like the automatic creation of another machine or the creation of a better power source battery. So the best thing to do is have them as close as you can, so energy and items will travel less blocks and will be proccessed in less time!

Quality or quantity?

So, when you automate for example getting diamonds or iron pieces from a sieve.. What to do? Have a bunch of sieves or fewer but with upgrades?? Today we're going to discuss what to do.. Quality or quantity? With the constant change of minecraft version and updates, mods either get updated to newer versions or get better upgrades! With a simple machine either: - a furnace -an ore processor (pulverizer) -resource giver (sieve, laser drill) Two options come up. The options are: 1) To create instead of one multiple same machines to run the task you want faster, so you will have to wait less time. 2) Create 1 or 2 machines with upgrades in them. Although you will have just a few to use, with more resources you can max upgrade those 2 and then a cycle do the same! Better explanation here: (For my example I will use sieve / autosieve): a) Making the machine (auto-sieve)  b) Using the autosieve to gather resources c) Crafting an upgrade for the machine (either speed or power upgrade) d)

Thoughts on machines?

In order to automate something, the main block that you will use eventually is a machine! A machine can have soooo many uses some: Power transfer  Smelting items (smelter) Crushing (Crusher) Making items into liquids and many more.... Your best bet is to use machines that match your current power limit. Meaning use machines that will not drain you out of power completely until you can support multiple machines or fully maxed ones. Mods that add machines vary in design, power storage and speed but each mod adds it's own upgrades to it! I will mention some mods that I know of just for you to test or search about: - Integrated Dynamics - Industrial Foregoing - Thermal Foundation - Cyclic - Immersive Engineering - Mekanism - EnderIO - Environmental Tech - NuclearCraft - Industrialcraft - Flux networks The man concept that divides machines/items is: - Power Storage (battery) - Generator (power generator) - Processing (Furnace, crusher e.t.c) - Item/fluid/energy transfer (pipes, fluiduc

What do I want to automate..?

Well now, you are playing a new modpack that has many tech mods in and you don't know what to automate first and how to do it? Take a pen and paper and just write down what you want... If you're playing a sky block - based pack (you will have to automate many things) but let's start one by one... If, you want to automate something such as: - Power (RF/FE)  - Food -Resources (Metals, blocks, machines, upgrades) -Other. What you should do first is think of a plan... 1) Make a place dedicated to automation. 2) Have a chest near that place with tools and essentials in making it. 3) If you want to automate something in a big scale, be sure to test in a singular way to be certain of it's usefulness. 4) Always have a secondary power option is the first one does not satisfy you. 5) Test your automation options in another creative world before doing so in your main. 6) Think in what ways your automation will be helpful! Now, you should automate items or blocks that take way to lon

Upload it!

Next is the easy part... Upload it ! Add your files to a compressed folder and upload it either on curseforge (where many mods and modpacks are widely accessible) or to a launcher! You just have to create an account, then: - Add the files, name for the pack, pictures and modlist would be a good option to add as it helps most people see what mods you have used.

Zip it!

After you have successfully made a pack you are comfortable with sharing there's really one thing left to do... Zip it!  Of course I mean the file and not your mouth.... Trying to upload a folder containing mods and other files can be tricky.... Best thing to do is have a good compression programm that can zip your files into one! I use winrar which is one of many great to have! Pretty simple as you will learn how to use it in no time! Tip: With the mods / config folder you can also include the forge version in the file, so players who wish to try it won't have to test every forge version!
