Minecraft Projects

  After you have successfully made a pack you are comfortable with sharing there's really one thing left to do... Zip it!  Of course I mean the file and not your mouth.... Trying to upload a folder containing mods and other files can be tricky.... Best thing to do is have a good compression programm that can zip your files into one! I use winrar which is one of many great to have! Pretty simple as you will learn how to use it in no time! Tip: With the mods / config folder you can also include the forge version in the file, so players who wish to try it won't have to test every forge version!

  So you may have gathered mods that you like tweaked them a bit and have found a great combo of alterations, mods and some ideas but... Have you tested them in a actual gameplay? To test a modpack that you have made, you must take the time to play it! Or you can go one step further and play it with your friends just to know if changes should be made! A pretty straight - forward step but an important one! Fact : If you are experiencing lag issues or lag spikes you can add: Better Fps or optifine or.... Tweak some changes from the ingame config such as: Viewing distance, fancy effects (blocks, textures and such). Or be sure to use the correct version of core mods needed for the main mods that you have added as it seems that if you use older or mods that have a confilct with each other it can cause lag... So... be sure to have fun and pour your creativity into your favorite game!

  Let's talk about one thing we all know... Overpowered items! What does it mean: Overpowered is something that gives certain buffs, has high damage or something that enables you to become invincible. Adding a mod that has items like: baubles, artifacts, wings or mounts can be considered overpowered if left unedited. Having overpowered weapons, amulets or even armours is okay! For example: Screenshot from my world... A gorgon's head... From the mod Ice and Fire. When a gorgon is killed it will drop it's head while the body will fall and start to spew out blood. Found in a temple under the first floor. I'd say the hardness to kill one is 4/10 as you only neeed a shield, a sword and to wear a blindfold or else you'll become a stone.. Dragon scale armour... While it may sound easy to slaughter a dragon it is not at all.... Dragon scale armour (in RLCraft) is an early great armour to have as it provides well (amazing aesthetics) and a good way of protection against mobs...

  Balancing  in a modpack is the  2nd most important thing when  making it. But instead of chaning tons and tons of recipes, you  can simply add mods that make the game difficult.. In what aspect? In item obtaining and using... Such as Reskillable! A mod  that requires progression through exp for the player  to use better armour and items  such as: - A full  set of diamond armour requires  the defense to be upgraded. - Swinging a diamond enchanted sword will do nothing if you don't have the required levels of attack. - To make an anvil you need to upgrade  your magic. Many different  vanilla aspects are affected by this mod! Adding this mod or similar like X Life health. These type of mods make the game  "hard" not  un-playable... Tough as nails is another great mod that hardens survival! It adds well temperature and a thirst bar! If you just happen to take a walk outside on a desert biome in the day, you'll start to ...

  Minecraft has many versions and keeps updating! Choosing the best and most stable version is key... As of  right now, many modpacks come  out in 1.12.2 , 1.15.2 and 1.16.4. Playing in a newer version offers things such as: - Stable mods -Better game and mod mechanics -A huge variety of vanilla items  that come with (1.12.2 +) Well, making a good modpack is simple. You choose the best and most playable version of minecraft which is now common (1.12.2). As some mods have not been updated (yet) to 1.15.2 and 1.16.4. When making a modpack you should also use the reccomended version of forge supported in that specific version of minecraft.

  Since we talked about  changing  recipes to your liking. Many mods when added into Minecraft create a config file containing item and block ids,  or mechanics and other stuff  related to each mod. For the people who don't know: Config files can be found here: In  the  windows bar: Type %appdata%. Open Minecraft's directory. Open the Config folder. There should cfg files for each mod that you have  added. CFG files can be opened with a simple text editor or  Notepad ++. They are very easy to change as many of  the things in a config file have a true or false in the end. Meaning: You add a mod  that adds new  blocks in  the game. You want  to change some ids along with a hardening difficulty the  mod adds. You will open and find the mod's config file (see above), open the mod's config. Find the id's you want to change and the line with the  difficulty. In  the end if it  says true change it to fals...

  When it comes to modpacks. Throwing a bunch of mods together, doesn't work always.... They are overpowered as items of significant use can be gained very easy... So that's when crafttweaker comes in to play! Crafttweaker is the  successor of the old minetweaker. Crafttweaker combined with modtweaker can tweak other  mod mechanics and recipes to  the point of removal, customization and with game stages lock and unlocking! A complete showcase of  craftertweaker will be uploaded in  my other blog. Since I used to love minetweaker. Crafttweaker  has changed... So I have to get to know it once again! Back to the point... Changing recipes is a balancing  proccess required in many modpacks. As  it reduces players getting  op items early on.... For example: A modpack will be broken if from early on you can craft a  regeneration amulet or something incredible overpowered.... A modpack can have mods that give resources very easy but each on...

   For sure many modpacks nowadays have almost 100+ mods in them. Many people can't play a modpack with 200 mods and have good fps, so thinking around 100- mods should be a good start. By adding only 100 mods or less, more people can play and enjoy your pack and while playing fps will be at a good rate. How to make a modpack different and unique from others? Well, making a modpack is an "easy" step but it coming out as unique? Something that will surely make it unque is adding custom items, or ideas in it. Meaning: Making a custom map for your modpack or making custom npcs that you can trade and talk to. Adding a story to it which fits the whole custom map idea and gives it a more customized touch! Tools for doing this: world painter or in-game mod world-edit. Re-writting or renaming items in game can for sure give minecraft a new feel.
